Domaine Ostertag Les aventures de l'agneau masqué - épisode 5

Domaine Ostertag

Domaine Ostertag is located in the Alsace region of France and is one of the most renowned leading estates in the appellation, earning a four-star rating from Bettane+Desseauve. Since 1997, the domaine has practiced biodynamic farming and holds both organic and biodynamic certifications. Its wines can be found in many Michelin-starred restaurants and fine wine boutiques across France. The estate’s labels are artistically distinctive—each one unique, created by the former owner’s wife—and its wine style stands apart in the region with an elegant, slender structure, clarity, brightness, and a vibrant sense of energy underscored by pronounced minerality. The current and previous estate owners studied winemaking in Burgundy; the current winemaker, Arthur, got experiences in Comte Lafon. The range includes expressive, fruit-driven wines as well as age-worthy, complex Grand Cru bottlings, and even orange wine expressions.

Region :  Alsace

Grapes :  Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Sylvaner
Taste : It shows a slight sediment due to being unfiltered, which contributes to its remarkably bright color and excellent oxidative resistance. It offers fresh and enduring floral and herbal aromas, with a subtle hint of candied fruit and an alluring spice note. On the palate, it displays an elegant texture, with a mid-palate defined by the tension between blood orange and cinnamon. The addition of Sylvaner brings a long, linear acidity, adding complexity to the finish. It pairs beautifully with grilled eggplant and zucchini, accompanied by slightly spicy garlic toast and a few drops of lime juice.
